Founded by Mamang Lourdes in Bacolod City in 1983, Chicken Deli has now
opened its second restaurant in Cebu City. It opened last June 4, 2016 at the Robinson's Cybergate Mall. Chicken Deli is short for "chicken delicious".
Being
a new taste in town, Chicken Deli’s juicy tastes have captivated the curious tongues
of the food and feast-loving Sugbuanons.

On lunchtime that day, Chicken Deli was filled
to its maximum capacity. It reached the point that other costumers have to wait in
line outside. Inside, the tables were full of savory grilled food. It smelled delectably in the air with all of its mysterious Bacolodnon flavors. The Sugbuanon customers talked about and
expressed their merriment and delight. This is the way how a traditional Filipino dining table
should be.

The crew was all very busy. but they enjoyed seeing the Sugbuanons’ growing curiosity and astonishment over the delicious food.
Meanwhile outside, there played young percussionists and dancers. Their lively and
percussive presentations added charms to the festive mood of Chicken
Deli’s opening. There was even a celebrity mixed in the growing crowd of
costumers. Former PBA player Bonel Balingit's presence took the
customers by surprise. They can’t help glimpsing at him—for he was gone
from the public eye for a long time. It was no sooner when he got out than he was
swarmed by his fans asking for a picture with him.

The secret to Chicken Deli’s taste lies in its rich history of ups
and downs. Reading the history of Chicken Deli, one may no longer wonder how
Mamang Lourdes was able to concoct a secret marinade that produced a highly
distinct, sumptuous flavor. She went through life’s worst hardships. Growing
up as a young orphan, widowed at the young age of twenty-nine, and left with
three children to support and care for. Mamang Lourdes stood through all of that
with her faith in God and her god-given gift of cooking.
