About Malapascua Island
Malapascua Island is one of the 168 islands that make up Cebu Province. It is part of the barangay of Logon in the northern Cebu town of Daanbantayan. While it is just a small island, it is among the more popular diving destinations not just in Cebu but in the entire Philippines as well. Among the dive sites around the island, Monad Shoal is the most popular. It is the only place in the whole world where one can see thresher sharks regularly around sunrise. Thresher sharks are classified as vulnerable to extinction by the World Conservation Union since 2007. There are also seasons when one can find Manta rays and hammerhead sharks at the shoal.
